Hot Pocket Recall

On February 18, 2014, the Central Valley Meat Company issued a recall on two kinds of Philly steak and cheese hot pockets. Recently, the USDA had recalled more than 8.7 million pounds from the Rancho Meat Company due to their processing of "unsound and diseased animals."

A school who buys their meat from that supplier had to cancel their shipments due to the hot pockets containing diseased meat. Thankfully, they caught it before the meat got into the schools, much less the kids mouths.

Honestly, how the sick animals got into the factories is beyond me. Factory owners and workers need to be more cautious of what meat gets into the grinders, much less our food. This is disgusting and turns me against hot pockets altogether.

After hearing this, it makes my stomach turn at the thought of the sick and gross meat that slipped into those hot pockets. Now that this has happened, I will be checking the internet for any signs of bad meat that may have snuck it's way into my food.

Official Release: Motley Crue Announces The Final Tour

On January 28, 2014, Motley Crue decided to close the curtain and descend on their final tour. The band has been together since 1981 and wanted to sound off with a bang. Crue's guitarist, sixty two year old Mick Mars, has been battling multiple diseases that deteriorate the bones in his body and make it hard for him to stand on his own two feet. Mars tries to stand with a guitar and perform, his knees buckle and he collapses.

I can connect to this simply because Motley Crue is one of my favorite bands and I haven't been able to attend their concerts and with this being their last tour, I have to look at it like this: At least I have their albums and I have their music video DVD.

I am in a music class and this relates to the topics we are learning. Like riffs and beats and measures. After hearing this, I was very upset to know about how terrible Mick had gotten and that Crue was closing a thirty year chapter in their life.

I feel very upset about Mick's condition and the closing of the Crue's touring days. I wish I would have been able to go to at least one show! However, at least Motley Crue will continue to write music and be able to keep in touch with their ever growing fan base. So I am still glad that their musical legacy will continue for generations to come.

The author structures their text by presenting the announcement first and what national television shows the band will be on. Then he proceeds to talk about the band's achievements and including a quote from bassist Nikki Sixx. "As far as letting on to what we’re doing, that would be like finding out what you’re getting for Christmas before you open the presents. We think in an age of too much information, we’d like to keep some surprises close to our chest until we launch the Final Tour. (Sixx)" As Sixx explains, he wishes to keep the plans for the final tour a secret until the audience is able to see the show.
